DRONES AGAIN ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF A NEO-COLONIAL WAR – IN NIGER

Amid the national clamor of shame over the Trump tax bill and Russiagate, the Pentagon just announced that the human-rights oppressor government of Niger is now going to allow the U.S. to undertake drone murder in its country, a step that may have implications far more serious than the tax rip-off or whether Trump goes to jail.

Niger is a country nearly twice the size of Texas in the heart of Africa, rich in oil, uranium and other minerals, a place where France wants to continue its colonial exploitation, aided by the U.S., and a place where the Chinese are pumping oil.

The U.S. move toward drone killing of Nigeriens is, of course, portrayed as fighting “terrorism” of the kind that killed U.S. Army Sgt. La David Johnson, whose presence in Africa was part of a long-term, overarching scheme to make the U.S. a major exploiter of African resources.

To get an idea of what is being planned for Africa and us, here is a quote from the article linked above:

“This war is getting hot in places that it's been cool, and we've got to go where the enemy takes us,” Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republic, told reporters on Oct. 20, 2017. “The war is headed to Africa.”

U.S. drone pummeled Yemen points to what is in store for tens or hundreds of thousands of our African sisters and brothers.  https://blackagendareport.com/ongoing-agony-obama-trump-war-people-yemen

KILLER DRONES DESTROY THE ENVIRONMENT … AND MUCH, MUCH MORE ON THEIR IMPACT

Thanks to Nydia Leaf, a long-time anti-drone warrior with the Granny Peace Brigade in New York City, for sending this remarkable reporting that focuses on the environmental destruction that may be traced uniquely to drone war as well as war in general.

Here is one of the report’s observations:

“One key concern surrounding armed drones is that these technologies have facilitated the expansion of the types of contexts in which states have been willing to use explosive force deployed from aircraft. If such trajectories are permitted to continue, potential environmental harms risk being seen in a greater variety of contexts;…”
